No heaters required with TFEL means increased product reliability and eliminates image smear artifacts common with TFT AMLCDs used at low temperatures. Glass is functional to -100° C.

No Temperature for AMLCDs: Sub Freezing Temp Performance Showdown Caught on Video

It's not exactly No Country for Old Men but it's still compelling footage. Our engineers recently put together a test video to compare the performance of a Sharp AMLCD and a Planar FA3 multi-color electroluminescent display. Note this one shot of smearing taking place on the Sharp display at -40° C while the Planar display still maintains a crisp, clear image.

The Benefits of Transparent EL are Clear

What if you could see through a display? Well now you can with our Transparent and Segment Electroluminescent (EL) technology. We've been hiding this one in our labs for a while, but we are getting interest in it from companies that want a unique look for their application... everything from automobiles to consumer appliances.

Transparent EL has the rugged performance characteristics of our other EL displays but with the added benefit of being able to see through the glass material. You can also cut the display into curved shapes or have a mirrored view instead of a transparent one.

Multi-color Electroluminescent Display

The outstanding visual performance of electroluminescent (EL) displays, now can be seen in more than one color. The EL320.240 FA3 Multi-color Electroluminescent Display is available today. This QVGA display has the same form factor of our most popular EL product.
